Coastal Brewing Sweeps Three Golds at the Great American Beer Festival
The 13-year-old coastal California brewery took home top honors in three distinct categories at the industry's most prestigious competition, cementing its reputation as one of the West Coast's most versatile craft breweries.
Coastal Brewing Co. today announced a record-breaking performance at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver, Colorado, earning three gold medals across three different style categories. The accolades represent the brewery's most successful year at the competition, where more than 9,300 beers from 2,000 breweries were evaluated by a panel of 290 accredited judges.
The wins span an unusually wide stylistic range — a crisp lager, a barrel-aged stout, and a hazy IPA — underscoring the program's depth across both traditional and modern formats. Only 41 breweries nationwide earned three or more medals this year.
Three Golds, Three Categories
We spent the last two years rebuilding our yeast library from scratch and rethinking every recipe that left this brewery. To see that work recognized across three completely different styles — a lager, a stout, and a hazy — that's the proof we needed. This team earned every ounce of it.
All three medal-winning beers are currently on draft at the brewery's oceanfront tasting room, with limited bottle releases of Midnight Tide scheduled for November 2nd. Fog Line Pilsner will expand to 16-ounce cans for statewide distribution beginning in January.
