This pre-use inspection must be completed at the start of each shift before the equipment is operated, per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178. Any item marked DEF renders the equipment unsafe — it must be locked out, tagged, and reported until a qualified mechanic repairs and certifies it. Keep the completed sheet with the unit log.
