Rehab goalsMeasurable
1
Restore full knee range of motion
Achieve 0° full extension and ≥135° flexion, symmetrical to the left knee, with no swelling after activity.
By Week
6
2
Rebuild quad & hamstring strength
Return quadriceps to 5/5 manual muscle test and reach 80% limb-symmetry index on isokinetic testing.
By Week

3
Return to sport readiness
Pass hop-test battery at ≥90% symmetry and demonstrate confident cutting and pivoting for clearance to phased running.

Phase progression8-week roadmap

Wks 1–3 · Protect & restore
  • Control swelling: ice, elevation, compression
  • Regain extension to 0°, flexion to 110°
  • Quad sets, straight-leg raises, patellar mobs
  • Normalize gait, wean off crutches
Phase 2
Wks 4–6 · Strengthen
  • Closed-chain squats, leg press, step-ups
  • Hamstring curls & calf work
  • Stationary bike & pool conditioning
  • Single-leg balance & proprioception
Phase 3
Wks 7–8 · Return to function
  • Progressive plyometrics & landing mechanics
